Although I have been reading and studying the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein for more than fifty years, mathematics has always been my first love. I still remember sitting on the floor of my bedroom, working through integration from first principles and experiencing the excitement of discovering how mathematical ideas fit together. Decades later, I remain fascinated by the latest developments in mathematics.
Over the years, I have read many popular mathematics books. Unfortunately, too many of them lose readers by rushing into formulas and technicalities before conveying the intuition and sense of discovery that make mathematics so rewarding.
With this in mind, I have put together the following series of notes that seek to communicate the enjoyment, creativity, and beauty of mathematics. If they inspire even a few young people to ask questions, explore further, and develop a lifelong curiosity about the subject, they will have achieved their purpose.
